Some encouraging visitor statistics have been published for Mexico, one of our key tourism markets.
At the beginning of July, the Mexican government announced that 5% more international visitors arrived to the country by air in the first 5 months of 2012 than the same period last year.
They said the USA sent the largest number of tourists, with more than 2.6 million Americans making a flight across the border between January and May.
Canadians were next in line, sending 954,000 visitors in the same period, and there were also significant increases in tourists arriving from other countries further afield, including the United Kingdom, Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Japan and Russia.
As well as being important for our Mexico tourism marketing, the figures will please Mexican politicians and tourism officials as they demonstrate international tourists have not been put off from visiting Mexico, despite some negative media coverage and a difficult financial climate.
